About Courtney

I'm a calligrapher and hand letterer, which basically means I managed to turn all those gold stars for penmanship into a profession.

I was born and raised in Oklahoma (where the wind comes sweeping down the plains).  After college I moved to Los Angeles and while working in the entertainment industry, I began studying formal Spencerian calligraphy.

If I'm not working, I'm probably hunting for new art supplies, binge-watching Netflix or doing the kind of writing that involves a computer instead of a nib.

If I am working, I'm probably listening to a podcast and drinking unintentionally cold coffee.

About Typecast Lettering

Typecast Lettering specializes in calligraphy and hand lettering for weddings, events and everyday fabulousness (Fact: custom address stamps are functional and rad).

My work has been featured on blogs like Ruffled, Pottery Barn’s Inside & Out, Ceremony, Style Me Pretty and Paper Crave and on cards by The Social Type.

In addition to working with wedding planners and event professionals, I love working with individuals to add calligraphy and hand lettering to their special celebrations.

About the name Typecast Lettering

My calligraphy styles are named after awesome ladies — famous, familiar and fictional

Parker, the lettering equivalent of tailored menswear and a whiskey sour, is named after Dorothy Parker.

Brenda is inspired by vintage monograms and by my favorite lover of anything monogrammed, my mother.

Viola, is named after the headstrong muse at the heart of one of my favorite films.
